There's got to be a middle ground

Seen in the Loehmann's fitting room: On one side a bevy of Orthodox Jewish girls trying on "dressy" suits suitable for a 55-year-old Mother of the Bride circa 1984--big shoulder pads, fussy pastel brocades, full skirts--possibly with elastic waistbands. On the other side: Teenage girl trying on gowns (for prom?) cut to her butt crack in back and nearly as low in front--suitable for a presenter at the adult film awards.
