The rehabilitation of Ariel Sharon

Honest Reporting notes the about face taking place in the media on the question of Sharon's character: Before the stroke, Sharon was likened to Hitler. Since the stroke, he's become the world's last, best hope for peace in the Middle East.

In fact, a friend and I have been exchanging emails on this subject since Sharon was first felled by a stroke. I haven't seen anything like it since Reagan died when he was transformed from simplistic dim bulb (Evil Empire: How embarrassing!) to chief architect of the downfall of Communism (Evil Empire: How prescient!).

But as the spot news reporting on Sharon's health reminds us, Sharon--unlike Reagan--is not dead yet. My theory: Were Sharon were to get up out of his hospital bed completely recovered, he'd go back to being the butcher he was just a couple of weeks ago.
