Not a pumpkin in the bunch. Not shown is the ginger ice cream and the cranberry ice cream I made to accompany the pies. I'm off to grandma's house. Here's a remembrance of things past. I'll post more if I get a chance.

Pumpkin or sweet potato pie?

I'm providing the desserts this year. I've been told pie is essential. But what kind of pie? Also, pie is nice and all that, but if I'm gonna let loose and have dessert, I'm gonna have something chocolate. So something chocolate will also be on the menu, too.

Which is not to say that I'll forgo the pie. Thanksgiving is all about tradition, after all . And what's more traditional than sucking down enough calories in one sitting to feed an African family for a week? To atone in advance, I'm about to prepare myself some healthful and low calorie miso soup.
