I was driving back from a doctor's appointment listening to a local public affairs call-in show on NPR. One of the guests was someone from some organization called Progressive Maryland. His point was that Maryland voters explicitly rejected lower taxes when they voted the Republican governor, Bob Ehrlich, out of office. And sure enough caller after caller kept talking about how they didn't need tax cuts, would gladly forgo tax cuts and couldn't wait for the state to pick their pockets. I guess people do really get the government they deserve.
