I think the Dems have become the anti-any-war party, but if this war were being led my anyone other than Bush would there be more Liebermans among the Dems?
I tend to think that Bush Derangement Syndrome has colored their response. Though I think it's unlikely the American people would be willing to trust a party--for Presidential purposes--that thinks that American interests are unworthy of defending.
I wonder: If Election Day 2000 had come and gone without incident and Bush were declared the winner that day, would the Dems still be pushing withdrawal plans today? I'm certain Ramsey Clark et al would be against the war no matter what. But I doubt that mainstream politicians would be so eager to pander to the fringe. What do you think?
