Why shouldn't they stay home?

Apparently, the latest issue driving professional feminists wild is the propensity of young Ivy-educated women to stay at home to raise their children. Seems it's selfish of these young women to take up space in the competitive Ivies when they're not even going to use their degrees.

Aside from the fact that feminism was supposed to be about giving women choices, who says these women are done with the workforce forever? A 25-year-old woman who drops out of the paid workforce to raise a child may well want to reenter when that child goes off to college. That's essentially what my mother did. Given the difficulties of conceiving a child after age 35, it makes sense for women to have their children early and concentrate on their careers later.

More and more people are changing careers in midlife, why can't mothers join the workforce when their children are grown? And if they're never gainfully employed? What's it to you?
