Time's top 100 novels in English since 1923.
I've only read about 40 of the selections so I have some work to do. Or not. I've never been able to get into Bellow, for example, but that's just me. Martin Amis and Salman Rushdie are also authors whose books I've put down almost as soon as I picked them up. For the record, I prefer Decline and Fall or Scoop to Brideshead or Handful of Dust. But I can't argue with Lucky Jim, one of my all-time favorites.
How about you? What would you put on the list? And what would you take off?
